Optional Summer Workouts
~ Coach Bosscher |
|
|
|
Here are the details for summer workouts at Tops. The set up at this gym, including the pits, will provide the safest possible environment for our pre-pre season training. 1. We will work out on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:30-2:30. We will be stressing conditioning and skill development during the summer. 2. Workouts will begin June 15 and run through August 5. 3. The cost for the entire summer is $200 per gymnast. This works out to $6.25 per hour and pays for gym time and coaching fees. Please register and pay at Tops by June 15. Please address all billing questions to Tops.
4. No pre-registration...just show up! But get your physical done ASAP. You will not be allowed to tryout without one. |

Summer Schedule and More...
~ Coach Ditmer |
|
|
|
Hi Gymnasts and Parents, Since Coach Bosscher has passed the torch to me, I thought I would update you on a couple of things. First of all, free physicals are being offered for those wishing to participate in Centerville Middle School and High School sports programs next year. I won't attach the details, because they can be found on the Centerville City Schools Website. Secondly, we are looking for some input on the summer schedule. We will be practicing at Tops two afternoons per week. One day will be Monday, the other day can be EITHER Wednesday or Thursday. Please send me an email stating which day (Wednesday or Thursday) would be more convenient for you. The practice time will be somewhere between 12:30 and 3:30 each day. Remember, if you don't tell me your preference, you cannot complain when the day you want is not chosen!! "Voting" ends May 1st. I will post a schedule on the website and email all returning gymnasts sometime next week. Here is my email... jenditmer@msn.com

Equipment and Uniform Return
~ Coach Bosscher |

|
Hello everyone! You aren't through with me just yet :)
1. Congrats to the entire team on a great trip to Columbus! It was our goal at the beginning of the season to make it to state as a team, and WE DID IT!!! I could not be more proud of such a great group of girls!
2. I'm really looking forward to The Banquet on Monday. Please get your RSVPs to Diane ASAP. Senior parents, please finish your "Daddy's little girl" presentations ASAP so we can test them on the computer. I'll communicate more with you guys later.
3. We have one last practice for the year--equipment storage day. ON THURSDAY RIGHT AFTER SCHOOL, ALL GIRLS NEED TO BE IN THE GYMNASTICS AREA OF THE GYM TO STORE EQUIPMENT FOR THE OFF SEASON. Please don't wear a skirt since you will be climbing up into the cage :) If you have any big strong boys in your life, please bring them! Those mats are heavy.
4. LEO AND WARM UP TURN IN: PLEASE BRING YOUR WARM UPS (AND THE BLACK AND WHITE LONG SLEEVE LEO IF YOU HAVE ONE) TO MY CLASSROOM ON EITHER FRIDAY OR MONDAY. (I was put on bed rest after state and won't be in school until Friday, so please don't just leave them in my room with the sub.) ******PLEASE PUT EVERYTHING IN A PLASTIC BAG WITH A NOTE THAT IT IS YOURS. I'll gather them up when I can come back to work and store them for the year.
Thanks everyone!!! See you Monday!

Our final week....
~ Coach Bosscher |
|
|
|
Hello everyone! Congrats to the Dayton Gymnastics Champion Becky Norviel and to Colleen Mescher for placing 3rd in the area. Apparently the newspaper doesn't think it is newsworthy, but I sure do. I WILL get stuff in the paper if I have to hand deliver the article to someone's desk! No one messes with a pregnant lady :)
Here is this week's info--and it is another crazy one! Monday: Everyone practices 6 to 8:30 at CHS
Tuesday: COOKIE DOUGH PICK UP AT CHS FROM 2:30 PM TO 4:00 PM. PLEASE SEND SOMEONE TO CHS TO THE BACK OF CENTRAL BY 4:00 TO PICK UP ALL OF YOUR BOXES OF COOKIE DOUGH--MAKE ARRANGEMENTS FOR A FRIEND OR NEIGHBOR TO GET IT IF YOU CANNOT GET THERE. We cannot store boxes and boxes of frozen cookie dough and guarantee it will not get stolen! JV will practice 3:15 to 5:00 as usual. Varsity = off.
Wednesday: Varsity only 7:30 to 9:30 to get ready for Districts.
Thursday: Varsity only 1:00-3:00 to get ready for Districts. (1/2 day of school)
Friday: no school, no practice, Team Dinner at Bill's house. He'll send out the info.
Saturday: Southwest District Gymnastics Championships (our whole season comes down to this one meet!!!) The bus leaves CHS at 7:30 am Saturday morning.
Sunday: Southwest Individuals Meet at Gymquest in Beavercreek. The bus leaves CHS at 8:30 am Sunday morning. This is a competition for any gymnast who has not scored an 8.0 on an event. See attached info.
We'll determine next week's practice schedule (our final week!) based upon the meet results on Saturday...
Stay healthy!!!!

Elk Invitational Info
~ Coach Bosscher |
|
|
|
Hello everyone! If you weren't at the meet last night, you missed one of the most fun nights of the year! I'm so proud of our young squad--they looked amazing!!! Meet results are attached.
Here is the final plan for meet setup this weekend:
Friday night: Bill and a few dads volunteered to cover Friday night set up (Beltran, Welsh, Smith, Norviel?) Anyone else who wants to join us for an hour or so after the basketball game? 9:00 ish to 10:00 ish Chris Welsh and Katia Del Rio will also be stocking the creative foods room with coaches' food and judges' snacks Friday evening as well.
Saturday morning: We need all parents/cousins/boyfriends/uncles/volunteers to come in and build the gym. I'll be there by 8:00 am. If you have work gloves to save your hands from splinters from the wood floor boards, bring them!
Teams will be arriving by 11:30 am so we need to be all set up and ready to go at that point. THE GIRLS SHOULD REPORT TO THE GYM AT THAT TIME AS WELL!
Since it is a home meet, we've entered 2 squads so most of the kids will get to compete again. The line ups have been posted for the girls, so ask them what they are competing. It is a warm up one event then compete that event format. Both squads will begin on vault.
Anything else?
Finally, my email server has been on the fritz over the past few weeks. Some students have not been able to send emails to me, the t-shirt company hasn't been able to get through to me, and a few of you parents haven't been receiving my replies. If I don't respond to an email you send within a few hours, please try again or call me!!! I love it that you can contact Christy for questions, but I'm not in the hospital yet! Please keep me in the loop so that I don't try to do things that are already being done. |

1. Monday's "MiniMeet" is still on. The girls need to be at the high school by 5:00 to set up our regular practice area. We will warm up, then compete vault, bars, and beam for the judges at 6:30 pm. Please come support all of the girls--every single girl will compete all three events as long as it it safe for them at this point.
2. Tuesday's JV meet is at Miamisbug High School. The bus leaves CHS at 4:00 and ALL GIRLS must be on it. Warm ups begin at 5:00 and competition begins at 6:00. Any girl who has not competed an event at a varsity meet will compete that event at this meet. This will be a great experience so I hope you can all be there to cheer them on!
3. Regular practice Wednesday.
4. Practice 1:00 to 3:00 at TOPS on Thursday since the girls have a half day off. The calendar states that it is varsity only since only Bill can be there (Christy and I don't have a half day like the girls do!) but any JV gymnast that needs the extra practice to get ready for Saturday's Elk Invitational is more than welcome to come in as well.
I'll send out info tomorrow about the Elk Invitational tomorrow, but please be ready to set up the gym at 8:00 am Saturday morning. (parents only--gymnasts, rest!) I know we still need underclass parents to help with the judges/coaches food room as well as to sign up for shifts to man the concession stand.
THANKS EVERYONE!

Anderson Invitational
~ Coach Bosscher |
|
|
|
1. Anderson Invitational this Saturday: it is warm up then compete format, similar to last weekend. Our rotation goes Floor, Vault, Bars, Beam. Warm ups for floor are scheduled for 12:30 pm. The bus will leave CHS at 10:45 am Saturday morning. I sent out directions on Monday. Let me know if you need them again.
2. Cookie Dough Sales: We made $1770.40 off of this fundraiser!!!
Congrats to Elena Morales, our top seller and winner of the Kings Island Season Passes! The following girls sold 30 boxes or more and do NOT owe money for t-shirts: Colleen, Vickie, Becky, Sami, Elena, and Sol
Everyone else, you owe $15 to Centerville Gymnastics for the T-shirts. Please send cash in a labeled envelope or a check made out to Centerville Gymnastics to me or to Diane Mescher. Exceptions: Sami--your money order was short so you still owe $16 to CHS Gymnastics Sonja--you only owe $1 because you overpaid. Kaitlin--you only owe $2 because you overpaid.
Delivery is scheduled for February 24th. More details to follow, but someone will need to pick up all of your boxes of cookie dough at the high school by 4:00 on the 24th.
Finally, the girls informed me last night that after the team dinner at Molly Ball's house on Friday, there is a team sleepover at Alyson Smith's house (Good Luck Debbie!) and we usually go out to dinner as a team after the meet to Outback Steakhouse. I just wanted to give you all the heads up! :) |

Mini Class Wars Meet on Monday, Feb. 9th
~ Coach Bosscher |
|
|
|
Parents: you are all invited to a "mini-meet" that CHS gymnastics will hold next Monday, Feb. 9th, at 6:30 pm on the East Balcony of the CHS Gym. At this meet, all gymnasts will compete vault, bars, and beam. (Or whatever they can safely compete at this point in the season. No floor set up.)
We are holding the meet for 2 reasons: 1. This is the best we can do as far as a make up meet--I want the girls who aren't necessarily in the top 6 on an event to get to show off their hard work! and 2. More practice in pressure situations is great for the girls considering we are approaching the championship meets.
Families--you are more than welcome to arrive early to watch the girls warm up. The judges can't make it until 6:30, so the competition will begin then. Please dress comfortably since you'll be viewing from our gymnastics practice area :)
I just got info about the JV meet on Tuesday, Feb. 10th as well. Timed warm ups begin at 5:00 pm and competition begins at 6:00. The girls will know who is competing which event by this weekend :)
Finally, a photographer was taking pics at the Lakota East Invitational and posting online at sburnett@burnettimaging.com. I'm also uploading any pics you guys can get to me to the website so please email them to me or burn them to a CD... |
